“High Precision Silicon Nitride Ceramic Ball Bearings” won the second class prize in National Technology Progress Ward in 2005. This project aims to solve the key problems in the production of ceramic ball bearings and first uses the "ion-thinning ceramic specimen analysis method" to explore the microstructure of engineering ceramics at nanometer scale and the generation mechanism and control technology on the residual stress and crack. On the basis of analyzing the fracture mechanism of ceramic materials, the difficult problem of difficult processing and poor reliability of processing of silicon nitride parts is solved. The "center-less grinding ceramic ball billet method" is first proposed, successfully solving the material preparation and ball billet processing bottlenecks, which is the earliest (1992) to develop high-precision hot-pressed silicon nitride ceramic ball billet production process; a variety of precision ceramic ball grinding device is invented and a high-precision ceramic ball batch production process is developed, bringing the precision of ceramic ball and ceramic ball bearings to the international leading and advanced level, with G3-level accuracy and P4-class accuracy respectively.
